As socially-conscious consumers ourselves we found it increasingly more difficult to find products that align with our values. Those currently available in the market were either extremely hard to find or are out of our price range. We saw a need to increase the availability of these products and knew we had to be the ones to fill the gap.

“Kanekta is a compelling venture because of the passionate and driven team behind it and a simple idea to make fair products more accessible. Kanekta will contribute to the world of ethical marketplaces and fill a gap in the current business environment.” – Elisha Muskat, Co-Chair of the Emerging Leaders Network and Former Executive Director of Ashoka Canada
“As CEO of Ten Thousand Villages Canada — North America’s largest and oldest fair trade retailer — I strongly support the emergence of new social enterprises that promote and sell products that have been sourced ethically. We believe there is a growing market for such products, as well as a growing need for international trading practices that keep as much value as possible in the countries where products are made. I’m happy to throw my support behind Kanekta.” – Ryan Jacobs, CEO of Ten Thousand Villages Canada
“I’m happy to endorse Kanekta. With retail today, an offering of ethically sourced goods is an excellent way to create loyalty with existing customers and an avenue of attracting new ones. A product that speaks to the consumer with a story of who, where, how and why creates a bond. The majority of us want to make a difference in the world and this concept is born out that truth. Kanekta is a pretty cool retail solution that’s come along at the right time” – Rob Meekinson, HProject Ambassador at Holt Renfrew Vancouver
“Procurement teams of large retailers will greatly benefit from a channel through which they can seamlessly access ethically produced or artisan-made products for their stores. Being a procurement officer for a number of years now, I understand the challenges of communicating with suppliers and see a need for a business such as Kanekta. I believe that Kanekta has high potential for success in Canada and in North America.” – Grace Cobankiat, Buyer at Hudson Group Canada
